Module 1 Objectives:

Upon completion of this module the attendee will be able to:

  1. Define the elements of Nurse-Herbalism and nurses’ nature care.
  2. Describe the application of at least 8 herbal remedies in care and comfort.
  3. Analyze 3 models and 3 paradigms guiding herbal application in nursing practice.
  4. Diagram a space for the integration of herbalism and nursing practice.
  5. Assess an individual client using the nurse-herbalist assessment guidelines provided.
  6. Experiment with the preparation and application of oral and topical whole herb remedies in the care and comfort of a client.
  7. Role-play the application of 3 basic solution-focused counseling techniques in the herbal care and comfort of clients.
  8. Critique at least one article on the subject of herb research.
  9. Apply the 5 Rights of Nurse-Herbalism.
  10. Experiment with herbal (simples) remedies in self-care.
  11. Design a plan for their nurse-herbalist practice utilizing content related to the 5 Elements of Care.
